%div Frau Prof Carmen was wonderfully kind, helpful and supportive to me during my time in Vienna in the mid-eighties. She always encouraged fantasy in piano playing but also instilled real discipline in practising. A wonderful mentor, with her passionate, direct and honest humanity, as well as being a wonderful pianist. I remember particularly a performance of Villa-Lobos at a Fest-Konzert in the Johannesgasse as something magical — such a wonderful plasticity of sound and rhythm combining technical ease and temperament.
